Community Support and Welfare

COMMUNITY SUPPORT WORKERS / VOLUNTEER STAFF

Pro-Com recognises the great work that is done by community support groups, often staffed by volunteers and that these front line workers also require the skills to stay safe whilst helping those in need. People in crisis, people under circumstantial and situational stress, people struggling to cope for any manner of reason can often present challenges to community support workers wanting to help. PCC designs and delivers short courses covering situational awareness, positioning, body language, communication and techniques to safely withdraw when the danger exceeds the necessity to remain. Each program and scenario pool is built to reflect the exact challenges of the working environment.

Volunteers working in the sporting field, mums, dads, family and friends, that want to get involved in community sports and help out are also, sadly, sometimes faced with situations of aggression and sometimes violence. You may be simply helping out at the canteen, looking after a boundary or scoreboard, umpiring a game, or helping to set up or pack up a venue where you are confronted with dangerous behaviour or even criminal intent. PCC develops and delivers training courses to help volunteers manage such occurrences safely with each program tailored for the sporting code and circumstances involved. The training, covering human behaviour, safe positioning and appropriate communication techniques, helps to give back the confidence and the want to return and support community sport and other events.
