Mark McConnell
Mark McConnell was a member of the Victoria Police Force for 15 years spending time initially in general duties policing and as an instructor at the Victoria Police Academy specialising in firearms, defensive tactics and communication training.
Mark then moved to the Critical Incident Response Team and performed the role of police negotiator within the team. Mark attended hundreds of negotiator related tasks over a seven year period between 2015 – 2022 performing in the roles of primary negotiator or team leader and tactical operative. These jobs would include high risk arrests, siege situations, hostage recovery, kidnappings and suicide intervention. Mark was a qualified Counter Terrorism Negotiator holding the qualification from the Australia – New Zealand Counter Terrorism Committee. Mark continued to progress his career and was involved as a member of the directing staff for the Victoria Police negotiation course. In addition to his work in crisis negotiation Mark was fortunate to have the opportunity for multiple interstate/overseas deployments including the Brisbane floods in 2010 and the Christchurch Earthquake in 2011. Since joining Pro-Com in October of 2022 Mark has worked as lead facilitator for State and Federal Government Departments of Justice and Regulation and companies as varied as Ambulance Victoria, South East Water, SERCO Immigration and Detention and multiple hospital/health care settings working with both security and clinical staff. Mark is passionate about improving workplace safety and achieving results through communication.
